Dylan gets more amazing everyday. After spending just a couple short days apart, I missed him SO much. It felt like he grew up so much in those two days! Middle of summer now and the its really heating up! Dylan continues to love the water! He just steals my heart away!!

Joe and I are so excited we finally shared our Wedding Vows with our family and friends. We had such a great time on July 3rd! Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful wishes and kindness. We are blessed so many people could be with us and missed those of you who could not. We wanted to share a few pictures on Dylan's site here!

We are sooo happy! We are really enjoying meeting all our new neighbors and getting settled in! Sam is getting used to taking daily trips down the street to use the "potty." We are still attempting to grow a yard, whoa, it is work! Dylan loves to swing out on the porch, go for walks, and is starting to move around the house. We will be safety proofing the house. We found a babysitter that is starting to watch Dylan 10 hours a week! Maybe I will get something done this week! Joe and I managed to have our first date since we moved here! We saw the new Denzel and John Travolta movie and then Joe treated me to Sushi! Yes, they have sushi here, but it is the only one in the area! We hosted a couple dinners this week, I really enjoy cooking! Thanks MOM for all the great salad receipes, everyone always loves them! Joe hit it off with our new neighbor and they took off to night fish? ok sounds fun!!! I told him he has to work tomorrow, so try not to stay out too late! We miss Mimi and Papa, however, they have officially learned to use Skype, so we get to see them on web cam!! I am hoping to not kill off the new landscaping my parents worked so hard on. I counted today, Dylan now has 4 teeth, lets hope none of them pull a disappearing act again!!

He is on the VERGE of really crawling! Although he shoots baskets like its going out of style, he still REACHES for almost everything. He has a long reach. Standing next to his new friend who is a little over a year, Dylan is taller, but still NO CRAWLING.. He only wants to play with non-toys, such as my cell phone! So sorry if I accidently call you and all you hear is Dylan... He is also loving to try and play with Sam. He helps me water and helps me clean up. He loves pulling himself up and takes a step. Time flies! I miss him being the tiny baby!!!

Where do I begin!! We closed on our new house on May 21st. We had a little issue getting internet, so I have been unable to blog for about a month! OH MY!! We had a great time being back home for a week or so! We got to travel up to Omaha to visit. We took Dylan to the Omaha Zoo! He really likes animals. He has been very intersted in Sam since my parents came down last weekend. Sam and Dylan are really bonding! WE go for walks every morning and Dylan loves watching him run! Well our house is still a disaster. Luckily my parents helped us do a little landscaping so at least our front yard is starting to look up. We tackled alot while they were here. WE just got our new Sofa!! We just love it!! Our living room is starting to look up too. We still have so much work to do.. Joe is off to Lowes again today, we are going to try and tackle staining/sealing the deck. We have met a few neighbors. Dylan has a new frienid, Clayton, that lives across the street. Sandy, his mother, is very cool and we have enjoyed hanging out with them. We just can't hardly wait for our reception in July! It will be a nice break from house work!! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Dylan also got to go to his first T-Bones game with his friend Bennett. They also enjoyed the build a T-Rex at the Legends! Dylan and Papa have a lot in common, just even there expressions. Dylan loves hanging out with him. They watch Basketball and golf. They took walks in the Bahamas. He loves when Mimi and Papa babysit!

As I returned from a long year in Afghanistan Brooke surprised me with an amazing gift! After speaking to several radio stations Brooke got us free tickets to see my favorite country singer; Kenny Chesney! Drew and Rachael joined us for an awesome concert that I will never forget! I think someone just won wife of the year!

It is not that often we all get to spend time together so we appreciate each time. We were all able to get a pic this past month. Matt's girlfriend, Nicole, lives in Florida while attending Graduate school for Speech Pathology! Rachel, Drew's girlfriend, lives in Kansas City and works at State Street as well! Its so hard to resist taking his picture constantly. We have now completed our trip back to Kansas City. Lets just say, we are tired of all the traveling. It was an interesting trip back, one which we won't forget soon. We weathered quite the storm in our stop in Carbondale to drop off one of the cars. Luckily we were able to put the new car in our new house garage. Joe's car was not so lucky. We will now be going through the claims process, FUN FUN.. Dylan is cutting some more top teeth, he is drooling everywhere and he is FUSSY. He is not getting much sleep, which means we are not getting much sleep :( It is nice for Joe to have some time off and spend time with Family. One more week till move-in!!

We travelled back home for Easter. Dylan was great! He sleeps so much better in his own crib. We are counting down the days till our move! We hope to close on our house around May 20th. It will be great to be home owners, finally!

Well this is it. We traveled to Carbondale/SIU last weekend in search of a home to live in. This is the end result! We made an offer and we are officially going through the process of buying our FIRST HOME! Scary! The house is not completely finished yet, so we were able to pick out some new interior and able to make some upgrades to our personality/taste! We are so excited we just can't wait to get there. Apartment living is nearing an end!!!! WE miss our dog Sam and can't wait to be proud Homeowners! I am sure it will come with a whole host of 1st for us!!

WHAT the heck! I thought Tennesse would be warmer?? We are having rainy, cold and windy weather...Dylan and I are having fun though. If we can't walk outside we go to the mall. We are SO excited for Spring to come. We have been out in the stroller and Dylan just loves the ride. We take his music box and a couple toys and he loves to look to look around. He is sitting up so much better now. We have been hanging out A LOT this weekend. Mimi and Papa went to Arizona. We had some storms yesterday, but nothing too bad. Dylan is eating Veggies, Fruits, and even some meats now.. He is Definitely Teething but hasn't cut a tooth yet!

We have had some good times lately. Dylan had his 6mo Check Up. He is doing good! Dylan is almost 21 pounds and he is 28 1/2 inches long.. He has really grown! On nice days we love to take walks in the stroller. Dylan is sitting up so good now! He loves the Jump Up.. He is eating lots of veggies now. He has started pears, apples and peas this week. Peas are definitely not his favorite. Mimi has made most of food! He is lucky! Have been busy at work. WE just can't wait for Spring! Looks like we will be in Kansas another month.. I am sure Mimi and Papa are excited for that! Will have to see what exciting things we can do now..

From the moment I met him, I loved him! That is true for both these precious boys! Boys are so full of energy, you gotta love them. I have enjoyed watching Johnnie grow up into such a sweet young man. He just loved holding Dylan and helping me feed him. And Dylan Loved playing with him.. Johnnie's mother Dolores is an amazing woman. She founded the site "my pink planner" especially for women with breast caner. Dolores, a breast cancer survivor, is an amazing testament to Faith, Courage and Strength. Her family holds a very special place in my heart. They Rock!

I thank GOD every chance I get. What a gift a child is.. I try to cherish each moment with him as time goes toooo fast and before I know it he will be all grown-up.. In the brief time I have with him, I can only pray that I can model a Devotion to God, a genuine love for others, respect for authority, obedience to divine commandments, self-discipline and self-control, humbleness of spirit and repentance and forgiveness through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. My mom is completely right when she says "being a parent is both the hardest and most rewarding job in the world."

I feel like a Blogger Failure. I look at my friends blogs and I feel overwhelmed. Katherine, you are my Blogger Idol! I keep telling myself when I get a faster computer I will make time to dedicate to updating our blog. Time just seems to fly.. There are not enough minutes in the day to get everything accomplished! Maybe I should be a better Time manager! Dylan keeps me on my toes! HE is now eating his first Vegetable, SQUASH.. Mimi baked a squash and then pureed it. HE loves it! He still loves his bottles though. He is sooo lucky to get to have Papa watch him on Monday nights while Mimi and I go to Bible study. We are studying the book of Esther.. I am really learning a lot and feel like God has many things to say to me. I am attending a work conference 2 full days this week.... I am so excited to go to Nashville this weekend and visit my good friend.. I am also excited to take my friend Nichole with me.. The weather looks as if it should be nice for travel, but ya never know since the Groundhog SAW his shadow =(
I like the seasons but really love warm weather. I am currently teaching Sex Education at our church here in town. I am still wondering why she asked me! Maybe no one else said YES.. It is really a great experience and has given me a heads up for the future and such a great reminder of God's plan for growing up! We are eagerly anticipating Joe's return home. We continue to pray for his safety and well being. He is such a Hero in our Hearts. I know he is ready to be home.. He officially got his orders to be an ROTC instructor at Southern Illinois University. Yeah! He worked so hard to accomplish this goal, we are so happy for him. He hopes to attend school while working there. We look forward to investigating the area and looking into buying our first home, any suggestions, let us know.. We need all the help we can get. Well, I have to work tomorrow! later!

I love to watch Dylan play in his Jumping Seat.. He has so much fun playing in his various toys.. He is growing up so fast. I just can't believe how big he is getting. The past few weeks we struggled through some stomach aches and tummy troubles. We had to make one visit to the Hospital.. Everything turned out fine, but gave mommy quite a scare. It is almost time for us to move away.. Wow, can't believe it has been almost a year since Joe left to go to Afghanistan. We pray these last 2 months will pass and he will be home soon.. Are next move will come shortly after. We plan to move to Carbondale, IL by May.. It will be soooo exciting to finally live as a family.. Joe acquired a position teaching ROTC at Southern IL University. Hopefully that will keep him home.. He plans to take classes at the University and maybe get a Masters Degree. I don't know what will be in store for me, will just have to see.. Dylan will be making his first plane ride in Feb. to go to Nashville to meet Katherine and Macie! Aunt Nichole is going with us!! Can't wait..

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed He was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from His life. For each scene He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to Him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of His life flashed before Him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of His life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.

Hard to Keep Up..

We have had so much going on.. I went back to work in November! It keeps me fairly busy.. We celebrated Uncle Drew's Birthday on Nov. 17th. We were so lucky to be with our family on Thanksgiving. Our family served at the community Thanksgiving Dinner at the local high school as well as delivered some meals around town. Dylan behaved very well. Aunt Barb and Uncle Doug came up from Texas for a visit! We also made a trip up to Iowa to visit Grandma! We also got to have lunch with Aunt Sarah and Cousin Addy.. Since the beginning of December, we celebrated Papa's birthday on December 5th. It is beginning to look a lot like winter! The temperature is dropping.. We sent Daddy a Christmas tree for his office in Afghanistan! It has lights and all.. Dylan keeps growing! He is up to 17 pounds!

Dylan behaved so well during his baptism. Why can't we keep him from crying like this all the time? Dylan was baptized Sunday October 26th, 2008.. Pastor Henry also had the privilege of Baptizing Brooke, Matt and Drew as babies!! We threw a small party at Mimi and Papa's house after the baptism... What an awesome day! Dylan is truly blessed by the many people who love him.. Grandma Lucy was able to attend as well as Aunt Connie and Uncle Brent Waldron. We were so blessed to have them here~

Daddy tried to surprise us, but we surprised him at the airport instead!!! Dylan wore his I love Daddy outfit!! It was a great homecoming and we are so glad Dad is home. He was also greeted in Dallas TX by Aunt Barb and Uncle Doug.. Joe took a shower, ate breakfast, had a beer and chatted with the family.. We cant wait to spend the next couple weeks with him..

I Can't believe how much Dylan has grown. He weighed 10 lbs. 10 oz. at his last dr.'s appt. He is already growing out of his first set of newborn clothes and diapers. His personality is beginning to show more and more. He is enjoying his new babysitters but misses mommy when I am gone.
His favorite book is Rumble in the Jungle. He likes to look at the bright colored pictures. Dylan got his first military ID. He loves having visitors as well.

Dylan and I are so proud of Daddy. He has been deployed since March and will be coming home for a visit very soon! Dylan is so excited and can't wait to meet him.. Dylan is wearing his HERO bracelet. The copper bracelet is for soldiers who are currently serving overseas. Dylan keeps his on his dresser next to Daddy's picture! It says, "A hero is defined by his life.." We love you Daddy and miss you so very much! We pray for your safe return and we appreciate your service to not only our country, but family as well.

The lasts week has been so hectic.. Dylan is trying to figure out his schedule for eating and sleeping. He is only getting up once in the night! He went on his first shopping trip this past week and did great! Both of Dylan's Uncles love to come down and visit him on the weekends.. Ever since the Delivery room, Uncle Matt and Uncle Drew visit Dylan weekly to play with him and get some snuggle time!! They aren't big on changing diapers yet, only in emergencies.. They have been great with him.. Since Daddy is away right now, he loves to spend time with the boys! He is really into watching Football!! He will go to his first KU Football game Saturday Sept. 20th and tailgate with his uncles! I can't wait to get pictures of that.. Also Nicole is in town visiting Dylan this weekend. We got to go out to lunch with her and Drew yesterday in Kansas City! Papa is on a golf trip this weekend, so Dylan is missing his Papa! Little Dylan is sleeping much better, which is nice b/c mommy has been sick the past few days.. He is awake more during the day and sleeps up to 5 hours at night. Dylan Has Visitors!!
Well Dylan loves to sleep.. He slept most the day yesterday when Grandma, Aunt Sarah and Cousin Addy made a trip down from the Omaha area! He really showed off his sleeping skills as well as his ability to tinkle with his diaper off.. We hung around the house playing and holding Dylan. Addy was not too sure about Baby Dylan at first, however she did give baby Dylan a little kiss!! They also brought little Dylan a couple gifts which was so nice and we THANK them!! Dylan's First Week at Home
Wow! What a great week. It has been so great this week. I am not moving very quickly yet! My mom continues to help out and take care of both Dylan and I. Dylan eats about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. At night he is going about 5 hours. He made his first trip to the doctor's office for his first check up. He got a clean bill of health. He loves to sleep and is not awake much yet. His little cries and screams are getting louder and louder, but he is fairly content most of the time! Daddy gets to see him on the web cam when he can. He watches Dylan eat, get his diaper changed, watches him get cleaned, and play.. I love dressing him up and all his fun stuff.. He is just now starting to like a pacifier.. Dylan's Delivery Makes News!!
The Kansas City Star will run a news story this weekend on Dylan's Web Cam Delivery. They interviewed Joe via email and interviewed me by phone. The reporter was very touched by the story of Joe watching Dylan's delivery via Internet for 12 hours from Afghanistan after working 40 hours. With all the new technology, it was possible for Joe to watch Dylan's birth live and the hospital was very accommodating. MY COACHES!!
They cheered me on and supplied me with ice, blankets, pillows and much more..My coaches were the best and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. My brother Matt, who is in Medical School, helped keep me focused during labor and also kept the computer going so Joe could watch the Delivery! My brother is very busy with school and I am so thankful I could call him at 3 am and have him be at the hospital by 6am and stay with me as long as I needed him. My mom is a trooper. She has been helping me out and waiting on me hand and foot. I can't tell you how selfless she is and how much support she gives to all of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Joe and I appreciate your kindness and love.

Dylan's First Few Hours

Dylan is Here..
The first few hours following Delivery are hard to recall.. There are so many emotions going through your head. The pain gave way to this new little miracle on my chest. Seeing him somehow made all the pain go away and instantly I was in love. You begin worrying about your child's every movement from the moment you feel him. That worry and fear increases as you see them and hear them. I did not want to let Dylan our of my site from the moment I saw him. I had my brothers and my parents watch every move at the hospital. My mom kept the nurses in line! Everyone enjoyed seeing and holding little Dylan. It has been love at first sight!

An Unforgetable Moment..

Baby Dylan is Born!
A day we will never forget. My water broke around 3:30am on Thursday August 21st. I awoke my mom who promptly help me get ready for the hospital. I had already packed my bags so that was a relief. My mom and I drove to the hospital where we met my brother Matt. We were quickly checked in and I was assigned a delivery room. After what seemed like hours, I was given some pain medication. The contractions seemed to ease after that point. I spent the day eating ice chips and hanging out with my family. Joe was able to watch the delivery process via web cam. By 4pm the doctor said I was ready to start pushing.. Wow, I workout but this was the biggest workout I have done in a long time! After an hour and a half, little Dylan was delivered into the world.The doctor held him up right away for Joe to see. They cleaned him off along with weighing him. HE weighed 7.3 pounds and was 19 3/4 inches long. He was so Handsome.. Our world changed forever!!

A Day to Remember...

Joe and I were married on March 1st, 2008. It was an amazing day. We were married in a small chapel on the University campus. My dad escorted me down the aisle and gave me away.The ceremony was beautiful and we enjoyed celebrated with a few close friends and family who were able to attend.. Joe and I are planning on renewing our Wedding Vows and my parents will be hosting a Wedding Reception tentatively scheduled July 3rd, 2009..

Awaiting Baby!

9 Months Go By..
Sometimes I am amazed how quickly time goes by. My pregnancy seemed to fly by quickly. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant. Joe and I had just driven 9 hours in the car back home from Christmas in Kansas. I took 3 tests to make sure it was accurate! I was so anxious I went to the doctor the next day to confirm results. Joe and I were in SHOCK! It turned out being the greatest miracle in our lives. So many exciting things happened during my pregnancy! KU won the Orange Bowl, KU won the Final Four in San Antonio, TX and we traveled to a family wedding in Colorado! I also had the pleasure of moving back to Kansas to live at my parents house! I had a great pregnancy. The last couple weeks were the toughest. I had a beautiful Baby Shower hosted by very close family friends! I received some wonderful gifts for Baby Dylan.. I also had the opportunity to get a Fun Scan Sonogram of the baby which was very neat. I could also send Joe the pictures online..The hardest part of the pregnancy was saying good-bye to Joe as he left on his deployment.. I managed to keep busy and I have made it thus far!

Greetings..

Thank you for visiting our family's blog page! We are so blessed to share our memories with you.. Many of us are spread over hundreds and thousands of miles. What a cool way to keep in touch and share precious memories.. Joe and I have been blessed in so many ways this year. For starters, we were united in marriage on March 1st, 2008. God also blessed us with the gift our first child, Dylan. We have been spending the year anticipating his arrival and preparing for this special gift. We have also encountered many obstacles this year as Joe was deployed overseas mid March. We continue to pray for his safety and that he is able to return home to our family as soon as possible. He has been working so hard for the past 5 1/2 months, he is much anticipating a break.. I look forward to spending as much time as possible with Dylan over the next couple months. He changes so much from day to day.. Babies are so much fun! We hope you visit us often!
